Discount member cards - the cheapest way to play golf in Xiamen!

Everyone who played golf in China for the first time is kind of shocked by the expensive walk on green fees. XGS negotiated some good discounts for our group outings and for individual play, as listed above. The cheapest way though to play golf in Xiamen is to arrange a so called 'discount' member card at one of the golf shops in town. Our favorite shop is 'Sunshine golf shop' close to the Orient golf course, owned by Emily.

This is how it works

You call the shop - Emily - and ask if she has a member card available for the day and course you want to play on and for how many persons. In case she has (a) card(s) available, you pay her a little fee per card when you collect the card(s). At the reception of the course you show the card and after you finished your round of golf you pay them the discount member rate and then return the card to the shop.

For example, to play on a weekday at Orient you give her 100 RMB and the course you pay 280 RMB. For Southern Wood you pay 50 RMB to Emily - who can fax your name to this course so you do not need to pick up the card - and you'll have to pay the course 290 RMB. It is not always possible to get cards as the members can use the cards themselves or other persons made reservations for the cards first. And as usual in China you'll have to build up some guanxi.

Beside these discount member cards she also has a good collection of golf clubs, shoes and other stuff and she gives XGS member always nice discounts.
