Winners 'The Open Charity Golf Pool'
July 2011 - In a sensational Open Championship, the European favourites struggled most with the ultimate golfing conditions. Although the European golfer Darren Clarke won the windswept 140st Open Championship at Royal St. George's, it was our own American Don Jordan won The Open Charity Golf Pool with his US All Star picks!!! Five of his 10 picks made the cut and the total of his top 5 players was +12, the lowest total of all participants.
We had 44 participants in the pool and raised 4400RMB. 40% of the pot (1800 RMB) will go to our charity CP Sapling of Xiamen. The other 1800 RMB is going to the pool winner and the rest (800RMB) will go to Philip, a guest of our member Scott Moss, who became second.
Our first Hole-in-One!!!
July 2011 - What is believed to be the first “Hole in One” in a XGS competition history was accomplished by Mark Liang at Cosco golfcourse on Saturday July 9th 2011. It happened on the par 3, hole number 12 (B3). Following the Event Mark hosted several celebration parties for XGS members throughout Xiamen. Note, this is familiar territory to Mark as it’s his third hole in one. At the same event another record was set by our Chairman Don Jordan who shot a net 55! Click here to find out who the other prize winners were.
XGS Charity roll out!
July 2011 - Following a resolution that was approved at the last AGM, the board has been working to identify a suitable charity for XGS to support. After looking at several charities it was unanimously approved at the last board meeting to adopt CP Sapling as the charity that XGS will support.
CP Sapling of Xiamen, which was founded two years ago in Xiamen, is a non-profit charity organization dedicated to helping families with disabled children. They provide an activity center, adult care and play group and home visits to the families. CP Sapling has been striving to seek to decrease abandonment of children with disabilities by partnering with families with children with disabilities
XGS support will consist of the RMB30 Outing fee that we all pay for each event along with other fund raisers that will be launched in the future. To read more about our donations to CP Sapling of Xiamen and about the charity itself, click here.

Some like it hot!
June 2011 - XGS outing June 25th, what a great event it was. We were met with our first real hot and steamy summer golf event on the plains of Southern Wood. Water and not beer was the essential beverage of the day with the latter finishers doing well to overcome the scorching conditions! Well done all - no serious casualties - but a seriously heat dazed Dane at the finishing line did well to pick up his close to the pin at the well attended Londoner wrap party... Cheers all. (Weather Underground reported Heat Index at 47C @ 11 AM on Sat. cooling to 43C by 2PM).
Looking forward to more sizzling action at Cosco on 9th July - 7am bus from the JJ's / M&You 2 Parking lot... more details to follow by Email.
Check out all the winners here and for more detailed tournament scoring click here.
